We all know this product is the catch to the very reasonably priced Swiffer Wet-Jet mop.If you've ever tried to remove the lid, you've noticed that it is nigh impossible to remove without breaking it.It's the standard "razor and blades" business model and it works very well for Proctor and Gamble (creator of the Swiffer line of products).Unfortunately, this business model produces a ton of waste and this refill product is one of the worst ones I've seen.
Well, here's how to stick it to the man!
Take that empty bottle and put the white cap in a vice (or alternatively some hand held pliers). Tighten it a little bit at a time until the bottle just twists/pulls right off!At the bottom of the cap there are 4 or 5 small barbs and all you're doing is bending it so that they no longer catch.Other than those barbs, it's just like any other threaded cap.Now all you have to do is simply remove the barbs and you've got a reusable Swiffer Wet-Jet bottle! My Dremel got the job done in a few seconds but you can use a razor blade.
I refill mine with just soapy water and a small amount of bleach and it works great!
